About ICV Administration
Intracerebroventricular (ICV) administration delivers a test article into the lateral ventricles, giving direct access to the CSF and periventricular brain tissue. It is used for gene therapies, oligonucleotides, biologics and peptides that cannot cross the blood–brain barrier.
Dosing may be a single stereotaxic injection or repeated through an implanted cannula or reservoir. Rodents are common for early efficacy and distribution work; larger species are used when device, volume or translational anatomy matter.
